Is waking up early and going through the most stressful parking line all worth it to get power thrown into your eyes?
If you ask Julie Tran, yes.
"The Color Run is a one of a kind experience that is less about speed and more about enjoying a color crazy day with your friends and family. The Color Run pretty much has 2 SIMPLE rules. 1. White shirts (any mostly white T will work great) mandatory at the start line and 2. Color plastered EVERYTHING at the finish! Each kilometer of the event is associated with a designated color. 1k is yellow, 2k is blue, 3k is green, 4k is pink, and the 5k finish...
April Nhem, a former Jackrabbit Pageant contestant, Long Beach Poly HS grad, and now a student at Long Beach State will soon be a hometown name if she continues at the rate she's going now. Meeting music producer Richlee Arpon in 2010, they partnered up and started producing in the summer of 2011. Her music career took off and is now boasting just over 1,500 subscribers on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/aprilnhem) and isn't slowing down anytime soon.
"Her writing style, melodies, and tone of her voice really sets her apart from what people are used to hearing. Her selection and ear for music...
We got to spend the afternoon with our lovely model Jacquelyn Lopez in beautiful Chino Hills. It was exciting getting to work with her again, especially being the enthusiastic and comfortable model Jacquelyn is, it made taking good pictures quick and easy! We had no idea what to expect on this shoot and we established that it was going to be a hit or miss; for the first hour it was definitely a miss. Driving around and following dirt roads, we eventually discovered a spot. Then we got kicked out of that spot. In the end, we got what we needed; with the help of my make-up artist, Camille Cruz,...

Lester Murillo & his fashion coordinator stop by the studio to take some Harry Shum Jr. inspired pictures. We didn't have the space, but we had the ties.
As the pageant comes to a close, 6 contestants become finalists after months of planning, countless hours of preparation, and a staff talented enough to run their own show. Congratulations to Colin Monaco and Madi Brawer for leaving the night with the titles of Mr and Miss Jackrabbit 2012! You two are now forever part of Poly's history and past winners. With the end of your senior year coming up, we all hope this is not the last great thing you achieve.
This however does not mean that the other contestants should not be remembered! The runner ups and finalists also have their own place...
It's been a long week, but the wait was worth it. My ring flash from the very company that started me on strobes, Paul C Buff's Alien Bee line, has arrived. Packaging was great, literally box within a box within a box. Now every time someone talks about the ABR800 or compares it to the other models in the industry, they mention that everything else is great except for the build quality. This is true. I personally never care about the build quality of a product; I mean if it's this popular and so many people use it, there has to be a reason why build quality doesn't fully turn someone off....
Our local hometown Lancers turn in their backpacks and sneakers for more appropriate attire for the night -- nice vests and high heels. My good friends Lucille and Lizabeth Taing asked me to take their Winter Formal Pictures for them and of course I accepted their invitation!
With their group that I worked with, I was lucky to see some familiar faces (Prumseyma, Melissa, and Aaron) and finally met some people that I've been hearing about for the first time (Diane and Zhamir). And it's always nice to work with people you know because then it isn't just an event where I take pictures, it becomes...
With the winter season in place, everyone's out of school, everyone's reuniting with each other. Jacquelyn and Dominique are two girls who I've actually had the chance to see grow up through high school and enter into college! Talk about really feeling old now. Carloyn, I've always seen around but have never had the chance to meet her, but it's funny how the world works. With these three girls back in Long Beach, they took some time out to do a little photoshoot with each other.
I have never, ever seen three people so coordinated and enthusiastic at the same time before. They made it so easy...
